Harleston Neighbor2Neighbor began its journey in 2014 with a neighborhood meeting at the home of John Milkereit along with several neighbors, who had the vision to start a group that was based on the Village concept begun in Beacon Hill in Boston.
The mission has always been to help neighbors in various ways to stay in their homes and enjoy the neighborhood as long as possible.
After the initial meetings, the group eventually coalesced into a steering committee, then into a nonprofit organization with a 501c3 designation. Initially the group thought it would be more of a service organization, but surveys showed that the residents of Harleston Village were an active group more interested in social and educational activities.
As of this writing, we have upwards of 300 members who regularly receive our newsletters. We happily meet once a month at 60 Bull Café for Happy Hour. Other activities have included garden tours, food truck parties, etc., as well as lectures by Robert Behre and Nick and Christine Butler on historical subjects pertaining to Harleston Village.
We continue to evolve and welcome participation and suggestions by the members of our community.
